Trump Calls For Stunning Green Card Change

President Donald Trump issued a major national security directive on Thursday, calling for a “full-scale, rigorous re-examination” of green card holders from 19 high-risk nations. The order comes just 24 hours after an Afghan national—relocated to the U.S. under a Biden-era immigration program—was arrested for a brutal ambush shooting in Washington, D.C. that left two National Guard soldiers fighting for their lives.

Biden-Era Migrant at Center of Shocking Attack

Officials named the suspect as Rahmanullah Lakanwa, an Afghan national who entered the U.S. in 2021 under President Biden’s widely criticized Operation Allies Welcome program. Despite ongoing concerns about inadequate screening, he was approved for asylum earlier this year.

The case has reignited widespread concerns among conservatives about the Biden administration’s immigration policies, security lapses, and the real-world dangers posed by unvetted entrants.

USCIS Director Slams Biden’s “Reckless Policies”

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow announced the new crackdown on X, highlighting deep failures in the previous administration’s handling of foreign resettlement.

Edlow demanded a complete review of every green card issued to individuals from nations labeled “countries of concern,” blasting the Biden White House for “reckless resettlement policies” that placed American communities at risk.

USCIS cited a June presidential proclamation listing 19 countries with serious screening and vetting deficiencies — including:

  • Afghanistan
  • Haiti
  • Iran
  • Venezuela
  • And several additional nations with histories of terrorism, corruption, and extremist activity

The agency confirmed it has already halted all incoming immigration requests from Afghanistan, with more restrictions expected.

National Guard Troops Ambushed in the Capital

The attack unfolded Wednesday in Washington, D.C. when National Guard members Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24 were suddenly targeted.

According to Metropolitan Police Assistant Chief Jeff Carroll, the attacker walked up to the Guardsmen and opened fire without hesitation, an assault investigators have described as a deliberate ambush.

Other Guard members rushed in and tackled the gunman before police arrived. According to law enforcement, the suspect was shot four times during the struggle.

Both soldiers remain in critical condition, and the attack has only strengthened calls for tighter vetting, increased immigration enforcement, and a return to Trump-era security policies.

A Defining Moment for National Security

President Trump’s directive signals a forceful shift back toward strong borders, strict immigration oversight, and uncompromising national defense — priorities deeply valued by millions of Americans who are demanding leadership after years of chaos under Biden.

Conservatives say this tragic attack is a powerful reminder that the safety of the American people must always come first — and the swift action ordered by President Trump marks a major step toward restoring law, order, and accountability.
