President Donald Trump gained an unexpected new supporter this week, as world-famous rapper Nicki Minaj delivered a forceful public endorsement that stunned political observers and energized the crowd.
Minaj appeared Wednesday at the Trump Accounts Summit, where she praised President Trump’s leadership and sharply criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom, arguing that Washington needs results—not political showmanship.
“Governor Newsom doesn’t want real change,” Minaj said to applause. “He wants attention. He wants to be seen, not to do anything meaningful with his time or leadership.”
Minaj explained that what sets Trump apart from most politicians is his focus on long-term outcomes rather than short-term political gain.
“So many politicians only care about getting elected,” she said. “They don’t care if their policies work tomorrow, next year, or for the next generation. President Trump is different. He’s a businessman. He’s authentic. When he says he wants to build something lasting for America, that’s exactly what he means.”
Earlier in the day, President Trump invited Minaj onstage alongside entrepreneur and Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary. The audience responded with sustained applause as Trump welcomed them, joking that Republicans had “done pretty well” with Minaj’s community.
Minaj later addressed criticism she has faced for supporting Trump, saying the backlash only strengthens her commitment.
“I’m probably the president’s biggest fan,” she told the crowd. “That’s not changing. The negativity doesn’t bother me at all. If anything, it motivates me to support him even more.”
She also condemned what she described as ongoing political attacks against Trump.
“We’re not going to let the bullying and smear campaigns work,” Minaj said. “They’re not going to succeed. This president has strength behind him, and God is protecting him.”
Kevin O’Leary then spoke about the importance of pro-business policies, thanking President Trump on behalf of America’s entrepreneurs.
“Small and mid-sized businesses create about 72 percent of the jobs in this country,” O’Leary said. “All we care about is policy—pro-growth, pro-business policy. These Trump Accounts are a powerful step toward independence and opportunity.”
During the summit, Trump highlighted his new Trump Accounts initiative, part of his broader tax and economic agenda. The program provides $1,000 for every child born between 2025 and 2028, provided parents open an account. The funds are privately invested and become accessible when the child turns 18, encouraging long-term savings and financial responsibility.
“It’s about empowering families and entrepreneurs,” O’Leary added.
Trump returned to the microphone with a lighthearted remark after Minaj and O’Leary exited the stage, drawing laughter from the audience. “That was a nice break,” Trump joked.
Minaj, widely known as the “queen of rap” since her breakout Pink Friday album in 2010, has enjoyed enormous success throughout her career. Now 43, she has become increasingly outspoken on political issues during Trump’s second term.
She has expressed support for Trump on social media, appeared at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, and praised both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance for what she sees as authentic leadership. Though she previously supported Democratic candidates, Minaj says her respect for the current administration comes from its ability to offer Americans hope during uncertain times.
According to Minaj, Trump and Vance stand out because they remain connected to everyday Americans.
“They haven’t lost touch with the real world,” she said. “They understand young people, older people, working families, and business owners. They connect with Americans and make us proud of this country.”
As the 2026 political season approaches, Minaj’s public support underscores a growing trend of influential cultural figures aligning with President Trump—adding momentum to a coalition built around economic growth, national pride, and long-term stability.
