Georgia Republican Running for Congress to Defeat Wokeism

Jeremy Hunt, 28 years old, is making a House bid in Georgia to ‘defeat wokeism’. Jeremy is an Army veteran who served in Ukraine once as an Army Intelligence Officer. He is a West Point graduate as well as a Yale Law School student. He launched his campaign at the beginning of 2022.

Jeremy defines wokeism as “telling people they can’t be proud to be an American anymore.” He says that he wants to become a Congressman to preserve the American dream from threats that are not only foreign but also domestic. He named wokeness as one of the domestic threats.

Jeremy’s messaging on wokeness may resonate with the Georgian voters, as the Major League Baseball pulled its All-Star game from Atlanta, Georgia last year to protest a voting law that was passed by the state, leading to many accusing the MLB of going woke. The lost business and jobs due to this boycott will likely have an impact on Georgian residents, especially since the voting law is merely requiring identification for mail-in-voting while making it easier to vote in many other regards. The MLB boycott may have been urged on by President Biden, who called the voting legislation “Jim Crow on steroids.”

Jeremy Hunt is aiming for the House seat for the 2nd District of Georgia, which is situated southwest of Georgia. He will be a first-time candidate and will be running against incumbent Democrat Rep. Sanford Bishop.  Although the 2nd District is generally blue and the incumbency advantage is something to consider, redistricting done by the state legislature would give Jeremy a slight edge over Bishop.

Another part of the equation is the general favorability of the Republican Party to win the House in 2022. Political analysts say that Republicans are in the strongest position to take back the house in the mid-term election coming up in November. The party that is not in the White House generally does well in the mid-terms. The rapidly falling approval rating of Biden is also good news for any Republican running in November 2022.

Other than wokeness, Jeremy is also bringing up rising crime as one of the forefront issues in the election. He is especially focusing on the rising murder rates in his district. Crime is rising not only in Georgia but also in most states in America. Anti-cop sentiments and liberal policies that are soft on crime are likely factors behind the increasing crime rate.

Jeremy also took shots at Biden, pointing to record-high inflation and rising gas prices. “Our families are basically paying the price to live in Joe Biden’s America,” he remarked in an interview to Fox News. He expressed confidence that he will prevail in the November election, saying “we’re running because we have an agenda that we think will work. We’re going to flip this seat because we’re going to show up.”
