Wokeism affects the lives of everyday Americans in many ways. There are already enough reasons to be annoyed with woke policies, such as teaching CRT in schools to cancel culture that threatens to end the careers of people for uttering a single word. Can wokeism also be the cause for the record-high inflation we are seeing in the US right now? Greg Gutfeld from Fox News seems to think so.
Greg Gutfeld hosts Gutfeld! on Fox News, a late night talk show. He is also one of the five co-hosts and panelists of the political talk show The Five. Gutfeld presents discussions on political matters in a lighthearted and comedic manner.
Gutfeld thinks that inflation is a worsening problem because the Biden administration is not paying enough attention to it. He thinks other things such as wokeism and virtue signaling are taking center stage of the Biden admin’s focus. “You can’t be concerned over wokeism and virtue signaling and crime, inflation, and COVID,” the Fox News host said.
Gutfeld also commented on Biden’s brain, how it has limited space and that space is being filled up with woke stuff. “So, I mean, this is — we’re watching the consequences of a man who’s essentially a husk. And they filled it up wokeism and it’s — he’s like a dead robot. He’s a dead robot,” he said.
So how bad is inflation right now? The inflation rate is at 7%. It is so bad that the last time inflation was this high was in 1982. What’s more, the recently released CPI report in February shows annual inflation at 7.5%. Inflation isn’t going away any time soon. Biden’s own Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen admitted as such, saying on 24 October 2021 “The inflation rate will remain high into next year because of what’s already happened.”
It could be true that Biden did not pay enough attention to the threat of inflation – it took him months to even acknowledge the problem in the first place. But there could be another way wokeism is the reason behind the inflation.
Every economist worth their salt knows that big governmental spending can cause inflation. Biden has already passed two spending bills with the help of Congress – one $1.9 trillion stimulus package and a mammoth $3 trillion infrastructure package. Some of the provisions of these bills are for climate change and racial justice – things that have a familiar woke tone to it.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called out the woke parts of the infrastructure spending bill. “There’s trees they’re putting in. They’re saying that highways are racially discriminatory. I don’t know how a road can be that. This is the woke-ification of federal policy, when you see this stuff,” DeSantis said.
Is Biden doing enough to tackle inflation? So far his actions include making the two largest US ports – in Long Beach and Los Angeles – operate 24 hours a day. He is also releasing millions of barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to keep oil prices down in hopes that it would reduce inflation.
