With the November midterm elections just around the corner, many Republicans are confident that they will take back the House and the Senate. Senate Minority Whip John Thune told Fox News that he expects Democrats to be ‘crushed’ in the midterms because of their woke agenda.
The South Dakota Senator said that there will be a red wave in November because wokeness does not resonate well with middle America. “These far-left policies are just so far out of the mainstream in the country right now that they can’t get people elected,” the Senator said. He continued, “I think they’re getting crushed in the middle of the country, and the reason is the extreme radical agenda.”
The Senator has a valid point. Average everyday Americans are concerned about a lot of things, but they don’t share the agenda of the woke. Take for instance the record-high inflation. Prices of goods have gone by 7.5% in a year. This is something that affects ordinary Americans, not those rich woke elites who often preach about racial inequality and climate change. People are more worried about how much dinner is going to cost, not whether someone gets to be called by their preferred pronoun.
On the other hand, the rising gas prices – which is only going to get worse with the impending Russia-Ukraine conflict – is another thing that has got average Americans worried. While inflation may not be directly caused by woke policies, the rising gas prices could be. As soon as he got into Office, Biden revoked the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and banned fracking on federal lands. The US, which was energy independent under Trump, lost that status under Biden. All of that to appease the far left that is concerned about climate change while not giving a damn about the real-life cost to average Americans.
Rising crime in American cities is another political liability for the Democrats. The woke crowd’s war on cops has led to an increase in crime rates, especially in Democrat-run cities. The “defund the police” campaign led by the woke was actually implemented in many localities, including New York City, Minneapolis, and Portland.
The Biden administration showed its blatant display of wokeness when the CDC used the phrase “pregnant people” instead of pregnant mothers on their page that talks about the increased risk of severe illness from Covid-19 to certain individuals. The woke wants gender-neutral language like that to be used in anything and everything.
It’s not just Republicans that are foretelling the impending disaster for the Democrats in the midterms. Many on the Democrat side are sounding off the alarm too, such as James Carville, who vigorously campaigned for Bill Clinton presidency. Carville says, “Wokeness is a problem and everyone knows it. It’s hard to talk to anybody today — and I talk to lots of people in the Democratic Party — who doesn’t say this. But they don’t want to say it out loud.”
