A new viral video featuring former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has exploded online, gaining more than 2 million views in just one day on X (formerly Twitter).
On the Flagrant podcast with comedian Andrew Schulz, Buttigieg struggled to explain away serious issues inside the Social Security Administration (SSA) — problems that many say the Biden administration ignored for years.
Trump, Musk, and the Fight to Protect Social Security
Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, protecting Social Security benefits for American seniors has become a top priority.
Nearly 69 million Americans depend on their monthly Social Security checks — totaling an estimated $1.6 trillion in 2025. For many seniors, it’s their main source of income.
Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) recently launched a sweeping investigation into Social Security records, uncovering shocking examples of government waste and outdated databases.
Outdated Records, Massive Mistakes
Earlier this year, Musk revealed that millions of deceased individuals were still listed in the SSA system, raising concerns about potential Social Security fraud.
While Buttigieg insisted that dead people were not receiving payments, he admitted that old names were left in the system — sometimes for decades.
In 2015, even the SSA admitted it failed to update death records for 6.5 million people aged 112 and older.
President Trump confirmed these issues in his March address to Congress, saying:
“Government databases list 4.7 million people aged 100–109… 3.9 million aged 130–139… and 3.5 million aged 140–149. Money is being paid to many of them.”
This level of incompetence puts Social Security for seniors at serious risk.
Trump Promises: “Social Security Will Be Strengthened”
Despite attacks from the left, President Trump has made a firm promise: Social Security will not be cut — it will be strengthened and protected.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said:
“Social Security won’t be touched, other than stopping fraud. It will be protected for our seniors — and strengthened.”
Millions of older Americans are counting on Trump to defend the benefits they earned through decades of hard work.
DOGE Cleanup: Fixing Biden-Era Neglect
Thanks to DOGE’s efforts, over 11 million outdated records have already been corrected. However, challenges remain.
Thousands of living Americans were mistakenly flagged as deceased during the cleanup, exposing just how broken the SSA’s systems had become.
Claims analyst Rennie Glasgow reported:
“Every day, real living people are coming in saying, ‘I’m not dead!’ This never should have happened.”
The cleanup continues — and under President Trump, seniors can trust that real reform is happening.
