President Trump: No Amnesty for Illegal Immigrant Farm Workers
President Donald Trump delivered a strong, no-nonsense message on Tuesday: There will be no amnesty for illegal farm workers. Speaking directly to American farmers and ranchers, Trump confirmed that while his administration is developing programs to support agriculture, those programs will not provide legal protection for undocumented migrants.
Farms Face Labor Shortages—But No Free Pass for Illegals
Over the past few weeks, farmers across the country have raised concerns about labor shortages caused by federal immigration enforcement. Many agricultural operations depend on migrant workers, including those without legal immigration status.
President Trump acknowledged the challenges but remained firm.
“There’s no amnesty,” he said. “We’re removing criminals, but we are creating a legal work program.”
New Work Program Will Help Farmers—Without Rewarding Illegal Immigration
During the meeting, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins explained that the new initiative would help farmers access the labor they need—but without offering amnesty to illegal workers.
“This program protects our farmers and their ability to operate,” she said, “but it does not grant amnesty.”
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer announced the formation of a new office within the Department of Labor aimed at helping farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers meet their workforce needs legally.
“That does not include an amnesty program at all,” she clarified.
Trump Balances Immigration Enforcement With Support for U.S. Agriculture
At a recent “Salute to America” event in Des Moines, Iowa, President Trump reiterated his commitment to both strong borders and strong farms. He hinted that his administration may allow some temporary work permits—but under strict guidelines and only for those who pay taxes and follow U.S. law.
“I’m the toughest president on immigration in history,” Trump said. “But I’m also the most pro-farmer president we’ve ever had.”
He added that the administration is working on a system where farmers can request legal labor help without relying on illegal immigration.
Conservatives Applaud Trump’s Common-Sense Approach
Trump’s approach aims to protect American jobs, uphold the rule of law, and maintain the backbone of our economy—U.S. agriculture. By refusing to cave to pressure from open-border advocates, Trump is delivering for both law-abiding citizens and the farming communities that keep America fed.
At a time when many Americans are still reeling from the Biden-era border crisis, Trump’s firm stand on illegal immigration—combined with targeted help for farmers—is being praised by conservative voters across the country.
