A bombshell has rocked Washington: Hillary Clinton quietly expressed serious concerns about President Joe Biden’s ability to win re-election—long before his shocking decision to drop out of the 2024 race.
According to testimony from former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Clinton confided in him in 2023 that Biden’s campaign was failing to overcome voter concerns about his age and declining stamina. The revelation came during Klain’s interview with House Oversight Committee staff, part of a GOP-led investigation into Biden’s mental and physical fitness for office.
“The campaign was not succeeding in dealing with the age issue,” Klain recalled Clinton saying behind closed doors.
A spokesperson for Clinton did not deny the account, raising fresh questions about her private role in the unraveling of Biden’s campaign.
Biden’s Collapse Was No Surprise Behind the Scenes
Klain also revealed another key moment: after Biden’s disastrous CNN debate in June 2024, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan allegedly told him that the president was “losing support.” Though Sullivan’s team denied it, the testimony adds to growing evidence that top Democrats feared Biden was unelectable—even as they publicly backed him.
Behind the curtain, concerns over Biden’s cognitive decline were mounting. Klain said the president was becoming “more forgetful,” lacked energy, and often mixed up names or appeared disoriented in private.
“He was visibly unwell before the debate,” Klain testified—referring to the event many believe ended Biden’s candidacy.
Kamala Harris Steps In—With Clinton’s Blessing
Just weeks after the humiliating debate, Biden withdrew from the 2024 race, paving the way for Vice President Kamala Harris to take the reins. Within hours, Hillary Clinton publicly endorsed Harris, further fueling speculation that the former Secretary of State had been quietly shaping the party’s pivot.
The revelations offer a rare look into Democrat infighting, backroom strategy, and leadership panic at the highest levels. Despite the unified front presented to voters, it’s now clear Democrat elites knew Biden was in trouble—and some may have even helped push him out.
