As President Trump continues to navigate his second term in office, recent polling data reveals mixed opinions from the American public. A new CNN/SSRS survey released this week shows that 47% of U.S. adults approve of the president’s performance since returning to the Oval Office, while 52% disapprove. This reflects a slight decline in support as many wonder whether the president may be pushing the limits of his executive authority.
Notably, 75% of those polled indicated that Trump’s actions in office align with their expectations, though opinions on this vary. While 41% view his approach as a “good thing,” a sizable 33% believe it’s a “bad thing.” The remaining 25% feel that Trump’s second term has been unpredictable, diverging from their expectations.
On the policy front, President Trump’s commitment to tackling immigration reform remains a central focus, with 28% of respondents identifying it as one of the key issues he is addressing. This comes as Trump pushes forward with his plans for what he has promised to be the largest deportation effort in American history.
In a close second place, 12% of respondents pointed to Elon Musk’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its work in streamlining government agencies and reducing waste. The administration’s efforts to cut spending and shrink the federal workforce were also highlighted by 10% of those surveyed.
However, not all respondents are convinced that Trump is prioritizing the right issues. Over half, or 55%, feel that the president has not adequately focused on the nation’s most pressing concerns. Meanwhile, 45% disagree, supporting his direction.
Despite some negative views, Trump’s second term still has its supporters. A substantial 46% of respondents expressed optimism for the future, though 54% are feeling apprehensive about what lies ahead.
These poll results, conducted between February 13 and 17, are a reflection of a nation deeply divided on Trump’s leadership. As the president continues to push forward with bold initiatives, his approval ratings remain fluid, and his future actions will likely shape how he is viewed in the months to come.
