Anti-Trump Republicans Forming New Party

Talk of a new political movement is beginning to gain momentum after a former Republican lawmaker revealed that discussions are underway about creating an alternative to the nation’s two-party system.

During an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored Tuesday, Marjorie Taylor Greene said she has been speaking with like-minded individuals about launching what she described as a “true America-focused” political party following her recent break with the Republican Party.

According to Greene, the goal would be to build a movement that appeals to Americans frustrated with both Republicans and Democrats while emphasizing policies centered on the country’s interests.

“We’ve fought against the system for a long time,” Greene said during the interview. “If the right people come together, I believe we could build a party that avoids the mistakes of both Republicans and Democrats while bringing together influential voices from across the political spectrum.”

Could Tucker Carlson Play A Role?

Host Piers Morgan asked Greene whether conservative commentator Tucker Carlson could become the face of a new political movement or lead a breakaway party.

Greene said she has not discussed the idea directly with Carlson but believes he would be a formidable political figure if he ever decided to seek public office.

She also disclosed that conversations about a new party are already taking place behind the scenes.

“I’m in discussions with people, and there are serious conversations taking place about what it would actually take to build something like this,” Greene said. “But this can’t be accomplished by a handful of well-known figures. If Americans truly want to challenge the two-party system, it will require broad public support and long-term commitment.”

Building A Third Party Would Be A Long-Term Project

Greene acknowledged that creating a successful third party would not happen quickly.

She said any serious effort would likely require multiple election cycles before becoming competitive on a national level, noting that grassroots involvement would be essential if such a movement were to succeed.

Rather than relying on a few high-profile personalities, Greene argued that ordinary voters would have to drive the effort through sustained political engagement.

Frustration With The Two-Party System

The interview came just days after Greene publicly announced that she no longer plans to support the Republican Party, echoing comments recently made by Tucker Carlson.

Carlson said he does not intend to support either major political party moving forward.

Carlson said he no longer sees himself supporting the Republican Party and added that he also has no plans to back Democrats. He acknowledged that he has not yet decided what his political path will be.

He argued that American voters should expect political leaders to place the interests of the United States above all else, saying he believes both parties have failed to meet that standard.

Foreign Policy Differences Continue

Carlson has frequently criticized U.S. foreign policy, particularly regarding America’s relationship with Israel. He has argued that elected officials should focus first on policies that directly benefit American citizens.

Among his claims, Carlson has suggested that financial support during President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign influenced later foreign policy decisions. Trump has publicly rejected those assertions.

Earlier this year, Trump dismissed similar accusations, saying his decisions regarding the Middle East have been made independently and in what he believes are the best interests of the United States. He has also maintained that his administration has worked to prevent broader regional conflict while pursuing diplomatic agreements.

Political Rift With Trump

Greene’s relationship with Trump deteriorated after she sharply criticized his administration over the handling of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The disagreement eventually expanded into a broader political divide, leading Greene to distance herself from the president and other Republican leaders.

Since leaving public office, she has continued criticizing Trump and members of the Republican establishment while promoting the idea that many voters are looking for an alternative to the current political system.

Will A New Party Become Reality?

For now, no formal political party has been announced, and Greene has not provided a timeline for when such an effort could officially begin.

Even so, her comments indicate that discussions about a potential third party are continuing among some conservatives and political independents who believe many Americans are dissatisfied with the current political landscape.

Whether those conversations ultimately lead to a viable national movement remains uncertain. Building a successful third party has historically proven difficult in American politics, requiring significant financial resources, nationwide organization, and sustained voter support over multiple election cycles.

Still, Greene believes the opportunity exists if enough Americans decide they want an alternative to the traditional Republican and Democratic parties. As the 2026 election cycle approaches, political observers will be watching closely to see whether those discussions evolve into a formal political movement or remain an idea among a small group of influential conservatives.
