Elon Musk Joins The Democrat Party?

Can the left win back Elon Musk? Former Trump White House aide Anthony Scaramucci thinks it’s possible—but highly unlikely. On a recent episode of The Rest is Politics US podcast, Scaramucci said Democrats could try to lure Musk back to their side by toning down their far-left policies and acknowledging the views of everyday Americans.

“If I were a Democrat, I’d be begging Musk to return,” Scaramucci said. “Most of his customers lean left. Give it time, admit he’s right on some things, and maybe he’ll come back.”

But Scaramucci admitted the chances are slim. The Democratic Party, he said, is too focused on radical agendas that don’t resonate with the heartland.

Elon Musk and the Trump Administration: A Natural Alliance

Elon Musk, the world’s richest entrepreneur, aligned himself with President Donald Trump in 2024—donating $288 million to Trump’s re-election and taking on a powerful government role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His mission: slash wasteful spending and hold Washington accountable.

That conservative message connected deeply with millions of American taxpayers—but Wall Street elites and corporate media pushed back. Critics claimed Musk’s government involvement hurt Tesla’s stock, citing a 2025 Axios Harris Poll that ranked Tesla No. 95—down 32 spots. SpaceX held at No. 86.

Even with pressure mounting, Musk didn’t back down—until one spending bill crossed the line.

Musk Slams “Disgusting” Spending Bill Backed by Congress

In a fiery statement on X (formerly Twitter), Musk denounced Trump’s recent “big, beautiful bill,” calling it:

“An enormous, waste-ridden spending package from Congress—it’s a disgraceful mess. Those who supported it should be ashamed. Deep down, you know it was the wrong move.”

Though Musk took issue with the bill’s size, he hasn’t turned on Trump himself. In fact, he remains one of Trump’s most trusted outside voices.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded:

“The president already knows where Elon stands. That hasn’t changed his opinion.”

And Vice President JD Vance confirmed Musk will continue serving as a friend and adviser to the Trump administration—even after stepping away from DOGE.

Experts Split: Should Democrats Even Try to Win Musk Back?

On the podcast, MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle floated the idea that Musk—and other business leaders—could be enticed back if Democrats accepted serious government reform. But that’s a big “if.”

Professor Scott Lucas, an international politics expert, warned that Musk’s return would hurt Democrats more than help them.

“He’s not in it for the party—or even for America. He’s in it for his own ego,” Lucas claimed.

But for many conservatives, Musk’s values speak for themselves: freedom, efficiency, and accountability—not bloated bureaucracy and runaway spending.

Musk Focuses on Business—but Keeps a Foot in Trump’s Corner

Though he’s stepping back from formal political roles, Elon Musk’s influence hasn’t faded. He remains a major player in shaping policy and advising conservative leadership.

Bottom Line:
Democrats may dream of winning Musk over, but his beliefs—limited government, business innovation, and fiscal sanity—are firmly rooted in the America First movement. For conservative Americans aged 50 and up, that’s exactly where he should be.
