George Clooney’s latest political comments are drawing backlash after the Hollywood star used a high-profile appearance in Venice to criticize America’s current leadership.
Former reality television star and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt fired back at Clooney on social media, turning attention toward the enormous wealth and luxury surrounding the actor and his wife, human rights attorney Amal Clooney.
Pratt’s criticism came after reports detailed the expensive designer clothing and jewelry Amal wore while attending the Venice Film Festival with her husband.
“$500M net worth George Clooney could’ve permanently housed 8 homeless people for the rest of their lives with the money he spent on a single-use dress for his wife at a 4 hour event,” Pratt wrote on X.
He followed that criticism with an even more pointed message.
“I will never tolerate a woke scold lecture from these people,” Pratt wrote. “Just be an ostentatious celebrity and own it.”

According to Page Six, Amal wore a custom Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford outfit along with Cartier jewelry reportedly worth approximately $374,000.
The outlet reported that her Cartier earrings were valued at roughly $149,000, while a diamond bracelet was priced at approximately $225,000.
Pratt used those figures to contrast the Clooneys’ tremendous personal wealth with concerns about homelessness and economic hardship.
His statement about how many homeless people could be permanently housed with the money was Pratt’s own comparison, however, and should not be interpreted as an independently verified calculation. Housing costs can vary significantly depending on location, property type and support services.
The underlying criticism was nevertheless clear: Pratt believed Clooney’s political commentary was difficult to square with the extraordinary luxury surrounding his appearance in Venice.

George Clooney was in Venice for considerably more than red-carpet appearances.
The actor, director and producer received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious honors awarded by the festival.

“Stories are always dangerous to people who peddle in fear,” Clooney said.
