In a recent speech in Berlin, Germany, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched fresh attacks on President Donald Trump, accusing his administration of siding with authoritarian leaders instead of upholding democracy.
Speaking at what appeared to be the World Forum on the Future of Democracy, Technology, and Humankind, Clinton warned that “autocracy is on the march” and claimed that the U.S. government now supports those who favor war over peace.
Clinton Takes Aim at Trump, Elon Musk, and Tech Leaders
Clinton didn’t stop at Trump—she also took aim at tech giants, implying that business leaders like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg wield too much control over public discourse. According to Clinton, these figures use powerful algorithms that “not only addict us but poison us with hatred and fear.”
Her comments align with Democrats’ ongoing criticism of Musk, particularly regarding his efforts to cut government spending and reduce bureaucracy. Some of Musk’s initiatives—such as streamlining federal agencies like USAID—have faced legal challenges, with courts at times intervening to block workforce reductions.
Trump and Putin Discuss Economic Cooperation
Clinton’s remarks coincided with an important diplomatic exchange between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders discussed U.S.-Russia economic cooperation, though tensions remain high over the war in Ukraine.
During the call, Putin rejected a U.S. proposal for an unconditional ceasefire but agreed to a more limited ceasefire concerning energy infrastructure—a move also supported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a separate conversation with Trump.
What’s Next for Trump’s Foreign Policy?
Critics claim Trump may pressure Ukraine into conceding territory to Russia. However, supporters argue that his approach prioritizes diplomacy over prolonged conflict, focusing on securing a resolution that benefits both U.S. interests and global stability.
Clinton Continues Anti-Trump Rhetoric
Since losing the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton has remained one of Trump’s most vocal critics, frequently attacking his leadership and policies. Her latest speech reinforces the ongoing divide in American politics, as the nation gears up for the next election cycle.
