Elon Musk and Steve Bannon Clash Over Future of the Conservative Movement
A major rift has erupted on the political right as tech billionaire Elon Musk renews his public attacks on MAGA figure Steve Bannon—this time demanding Bannon face prison once again.
On July 4th, Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter), slamming Bannon and insisting the former Trump adviser has “a lifetime of wrongdoing to answer for.” The comments come as Musk pushes for a new “America Party” that could reshape the 2024 election—and disrupt the traditional Republican stronghold.
Bannon Fires Back at Musk’s ‘Un-American’ Agenda
In response, Bannon mocked Musk, calling him “Elmo the Mook” and blasting the idea of a foreign-born billionaire trying to form a new U.S. political party. “Only a foreigner would think of something like this,” Bannon said, warning that Musk’s political ambitions threaten to divide America First voters.
Bannon also criticized Musk’s online poll—seen by over 1.2 million users—where 65% of respondents supported the idea of launching an “America Party.”
Musk vs. Trump? Rift Grows Over GOP’s Future
Musk’s growing distance from President Donald Trump became evident after he openly criticized Trump’s proposed “Big Beautiful Bill,” calling it a “debt bomb” that would worsen the economic crisis.
After completing his advisory role with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk turned his attention to reshaping American politics through targeted influence. “Just a few Senate and House races,” Musk said, “can determine whether real reform happens or the swamp wins again.”
Bannon’s Legal Troubles Add Fuel to the Fire
Bannon, a former White House strategist and central figure in the MAGA movement, served four months in prison last year after defying a congressional subpoena related to the January 6 hearings. Musk has since repeated calls for Bannon to be held accountable, suggesting more legal action is needed.
Conservative Movement at a Crossroads
As the 2024 election season intensifies, the divide between traditional MAGA loyalists and rising third-party voices like Musk is sparking deep debate among conservative voters.
The question now: Will Musk’s “America Party” be a bold new chapter—or a distraction that hands power back to the Democrats?
