Democrats Say Trump’s ICE Has Too Much Funding, You Agree?

Yes

I do.

No

I don’t.

Immigration enforcement remains one of the biggest political dividing lines in Washington, and President Donald Trump’s approach to border security and deportations continues to generate strong reactions from both parties.

Trump has made immigration enforcement a central priority of his presidency, while Democrats remain divided over how far changes to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement should go. At the Democratic National Committee’s August meeting, members approved separate nonbinding resolutions supporting ICE reform and calling for the agency’s abolition, highlighting significant disagreements even within the party.

Supporters of increased immigration-enforcement resources argue that federal agents need sufficient staffing, detention capacity and operational funding to enforce existing immigration laws. They contend that a country cannot maintain control over its immigration system unless the agencies responsible for enforcing the law have the resources necessary to do their jobs.

Critics argue that the federal government has placed too much emphasis and money behind aggressive immigration enforcement. Some Democrats want greater oversight and reforms, while others have gone considerably further by calling for ICE to be abolished.

The disagreement ultimately comes down to competing views about enforcement, federal spending and the government’s responsibility at the border and inside the country.
