Governor Abbott Announces Shutdown of Operation Lone Star Booking Facility
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced the closure of the Operation Lone Star jail booking facility in Jim Hogg County, citing a historic drop in illegal immigration. The facility, which was established to handle record-high border crossings, will cease operations next month due to the dramatic improvement in border security.
Located in southern Texas near the U.S.-Mexico border, Jim Hogg County became a key part of Texas’ effort to combat illegal immigration in 2021. At the time, Governor Abbott declared a state emergency, warning that the surge in unlawful crossings posed a serious threat to public safety, private property, and Texas communities.
Trump’s Leadership Restores Border Security
Governor Abbott credited President Donald Trump’s decisive actions for the success, stating:
“Thanks to President Trump’s strong leadership, illegal border crossings have plummeted to historic lows. Unlike under President Joe Biden, where chaos reigned, President Trump has taken swift and effective action to enforce immigration laws and protect American citizens.”
According to U.S. Border Patrol, illegal crossings from Mexico into the United States have dropped by an incredible 94% compared to last year. This proves that strong leadership and real border enforcement work—something many Texans have been demanding for years.
Texas Remains Committed to Border Security
While the Operation Lone Star facility will close, Governor Abbott reaffirmed his commitment to securing Texas and protecting Americans from the dangers of illegal immigration.
Texans have seen firsthand the importance of strong leadership, and under President Trump’s policies, America is once again on the right track toward law and order.
