Trump Attacked By His Own MAGA Base

Conservatives Say New Plan Betrays ‘America First’ Values

President Donald Trump is taking heat from his own supporters after floating a controversial plan that could allow certain illegal migrant workers to remain in the U.S.—especially those working in agriculture and hospitality.

“This isn’t what we voted for,” say outraged MAGA voices across the country.

At a packed rally in Des Moines, Iowa, Trump hinted at new legislation in the works that would permit long-time undocumented workers to stay. He referenced cases where migrants had worked 14 or 15 years on farms or in hotels, only to be deported.

“We’ve got to be smart. We’ve got to work with the farmers, hotel owners, and people in leisure,” Trump told the crowd.

🔴 Conservatives Push Back: ‘This Is Amnesty’

Trump attempted to reassure his base, saying, “Some very hardcore folks on the right—who I like a lot—might not love this… but they’ll understand.”

The backlash was swift.

  • Mike Cernovich, conservative commentator, called the idea a “great betrayal.” “Trump wants to give amnesty to industries already receiving minority and migrant subsidies? This is not putting Americans first.”
  • The Blaze’s Auron MacIntyre warned: “This is amnesty. Worse—it’s targeted amnesty to benefit big business. MAGA voters didn’t ask for this.”
  • Senior editor Daniel Horowitz asked: “Why are we throwing billions at ICE if we’re not enforcing the law equally?”

⚠️ Remember Mollie Tibbetts?

Jack Posobiec of Human Events reminded Americans of the tragedy involving Mollie Tibbetts—murdered by an illegal farmworker just an hour from where Trump gave his speech.

“He worked illegally on multiple farms. How many more like him are out there?”

🚨 Critics Point to Brooke Rollins

Some are blaming Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, a known policy influencer, for encouraging the softer stance on illegal labor. Critics say her influence is pushing Trump away from his America First platform.

Even American farmers are sounding the alarm.

  • Meriwether Farms (Wyoming) issued a statement: “This isn’t radical—it’s just common sense. Prioritize legal American workers, not corporations exploiting illegal labor.”

📉 A Change in Policy?

Just weeks earlier, Trump ordered ICE to halt workplace raids on farms and hotels, saying the crackdown was hurting long-time employees.

“It was a very aggressive policy. But it was taking away workers who had been there a long time,” he said.
