Poll Shows Rising Disapproval Among Democrats and Independents — But MAGA Base Remains Unshaken
New Poll Shows President Trump Facing a Familiar Challenge — Media Spin vs. Real Support
President Donald Trump is once again in the media crosshairs as a new Economist/YouGov poll reports a rise in his disapproval rating. The survey, conducted July 11–14, shows 55% disapprove of his performance while 41% continue to support the president’s leadership.
This slight dip marks the highest disapproval rating since Trump began his second term in office, and predictably, the media is seizing on it to paint a negative picture. But a closer look at the numbers tells a much different story.
Approval Drops Among Democrats and Independents — No Surprise There
As expected, Democrat support for Trump has collapsed — from 12% approval in January to just 3% now. Independents are also showing signs of shifting, with approval falling from 41% earlier this year to 29% today.
But let’s be honest — these groups weren’t exactly waving MAGA flags to begin with.
Republican Voters Still Strongly Behind Trump — Especially the MAGA Core
The good news? President Trump’s base remains rock-solid. Among Republicans, approval remains sky-high at 92%, barely a shift from the 94% at the start of his term.
Among MAGA Republicans, support is near-unanimous — an incredible 98% approval. That’s not just loyalty; that’s movement-level dedication.
Even among non-MAGA Republicans — the so-called “establishment GOP” — support has bounced back. After dipping to 70% in April, it now stands at 85%, showing growing unity ahead of 2026.
The Media Narrative vs. the Real Numbers
Liberal outlets may cheerlead these poll results as a Trump problem, but the truth is clear: the conservative movement remains energized and loyal. The president’s core supporters aren’t going anywhere — and that’s what really matters in the months ahead.
This survey, conducted with 1,680 U.S. adults, carries a margin of error of ±3.4%. But even with that, the trend is unmistakable: Republican voters are staying with Trump, no matter how hard the media tries to twist the story.
Bottom Line: The Numbers Don’t Lie — Trump Still Owns the GOP
Despite the latest polling noise, President Trump continues to dominate the conservative landscape. The MAGA movement is stronger than ever, and grassroots support remains the backbone of his presidency.
