DALLAS, TX — In a controversial new interview, Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett made headlines after suggesting that Republican voters admire her — even as she openly discussed plans to impeach President Donald Trump for a third time if Democrats retake the House.
Appearing on Inside Texas Politics with WFAA’s senior political reporter Jason Whitely, Crockett weighed in on her role in Congress, her public image, and the growing speculation about her political future.
While some in the media are already hyping her as a potential 2028 candidate, Crockett dismissed those rumors. “No,” she said when asked directly about national ambitions.
But then came a shocking claim: Crockett insisted that she’s winning over Americans beyond the Democrat base — even conservatives.
“I’ve had Republicans walk up to me and say they really like me,” she said, adding that some people once assumed only Black or liberal voters would connect with her, but now “it’s become clear” that her reach is wider.
Whitely, clearly stunned, interrupted: “No, you haven’t! Are you serious?”
Crockett stood by her statement, repeating: “Oh yeah. You’d be surprised.”
The exchange sparked skepticism and backlash, especially among conservative viewers who remain deeply concerned about the direction of the country under Democrat leadership.
Later in the interview, Crockett addressed her viral moments in congressional hearings, saying she has no plans to tone down her partisan attacks. Instead, she vowed to stay “unapologetic” in promoting her party’s far-left agenda.
But it was her comments on impeachment that truly lit a fire.
Crockett declared that if Democrats win back the majority in the next election, she’s ready to initiate a third impeachment against President Trump — despite the two failed attempts already behind them.
“If we take back the majority, I’d finally be in a position to begin the kind of actions that resemble an impeachment process,” she said. “Whether we’d actually bring it to a formal vote is another matter — after all, he’s already been impeached twice and never convicted.”
Her remarks have alarmed many Americans who see the repeated impeachment efforts not as justice, but as partisan vengeance.
At a time when President Trump is focused on rebuilding the economy, restoring American strength abroad, and securing the southern border, Democrats like Crockett appear more interested in political score-settling than solving real problems.
