Trump Unable To Fund Deportations?

Tom Homan, President Trump’s newly appointed Border Czar, has made it clear that when it comes to funding deportations, the responsibility falls on Congress. During an appearance on ABC’s This Week, Homan was asked to elaborate on how the Trump administration plans to finance its ambitious immigration enforcement strategies, including the costly endeavor of mass deportations.

Homan emphasized that immigration is a top priority for Americans, reflecting the clear message voters sent in the last election. “The President has a mandate on this issue, and I believe Congress does as well. This is the number one issue that the American people voted on,” Homan asserted. He further pointed out that Congress must step up and allocate the necessary resources to support the administration’s enforcement efforts.

As a former ICE Director, Homan stressed the urgency of addressing the national security threat posed by illegal immigration. He pointed to the tragic case of Laken Riley, a Georgia college student who was killed by an illegal migrant, as a prime example of why this issue cannot be ignored. For many, this tragedy has come to symbolize the broader consequences of lax immigration policies.

When pressed by ABC’s Martha Raddatz on the practical aspects of the deportation plan, including how to house detainees, Homan responded that the funding for detention facilities must come from Congress. “Congress needs to step up quickly and provide the funds we need to secure our border and protect American citizens,” he said.

Homan’s remarks are a direct call to action for lawmakers to prioritize border security, emphasizing that without the necessary funding, the Trump administration’s immigration strategy will be difficult to implement effectively. For the GOP, securing the border remains a critical issue—and now, it’s time for Congress to deliver.
