Former Vice President Mike Pence attended an event at Stanford University named “How to Save America From the Woke Left”, which was organized by Young America’s Foundation, a conservative youth organization.
Pence and his supporters aren’t the only ones that showed up for the event, with many woke protestors standing outside waving signs condemning Pence. The protestors proudly proclaimed, “We are the woke left!” There were also other slogans, such as “resist fascism”, “your hate is not welcome”, etc. The protestors also chanted, “”Hey, hey, ho, ho, Mike Pence has got to go.”
Pence made his speech in Stanford’s Dinkelspiel Auditorium, which was packed with audience while there were a few dozen protestors outside. During his speech, Pence talks about the problems plaguing America right now – vaccine mandates, increasing gas prices, Critical Race Theory, and cancel culture. He also called out the Democrats’ big-government socialist agenda and Biden’s embrace of wokeness.
Pence decried vaccine mandates by saying, “In a free society, that is a choice every American should be able to make for themselves and their family.” At the same time, he revealed that he has taken the vaccine as well as the boosters and said he was proud of developing the Covid-19 vaccine in record time under the Trump administration.
Pence also weighed in on the landslide recall of three San Francisco school board members. He praised the parents that were behind the recall vote. “Those results, I gotta tell ya, those results are sending shockwaves across the country. Democrats who supported cancel culture and school closures are starting to wake up. The truth is, many on the woke left have been spending years trying to agitate for a culture war. It looks like they might just get one. And they’re gonna lose,” he said.
After the speech, Pence took some questions from the audience. While there were some trolling questions, there were some good ones too. Pence was asked about his fallout with Trump after he certified Biden’s victory in Congress on Jan 6, 2021. He defended his actions on that day, saying “You know, I know in my heart that we did our duty that day.” He also acknowledged that he and Trump may never see eye-to-eye on this topic.
While Pence condemned the riot that took place on Jan 6 by saying, “Let me say plainly, January 6 was a tragic day,” he also came to the defense of the RNC censuring Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the only Republican members of the Democrat-led January 6th House Select Committee. The RNC said the two Republicans are “participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”
