Republicans Take a Stand Against Woke Education
Indiana’s Republican Lieutenant Governor, Micah Beckwith, is making headlines after boldly correcting Senate Democrats’ false claims about America’s founding. At the heart of the debate is Senate Bill 289, a strong, common-sense measure passed by the Indiana Senate to curtail radical Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs infiltrating education and government institutions.
Senate Democrats outrageously compared the bill to the historical Three-Fifths Compromise, attempting to paint conservatives as discriminatory. But Beckwith fired back, stating bluntly that Democrats have been brainwashed by woke universities pushing false narratives.
Beckwith Defends America’s Founding Principles
In a video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Beckwith explained, “The Three-Fifths Compromise was never about promoting slavery—it was a move by Northern states to weaken the power of slaveholders. Woke education has hidden this truth from our young people for too long.”
Beckwith argued that modern DEI programs, pushed by liberal professors, are responsible for the widespread misunderstanding of American history today. “We got to this place because DEI has distorted reality,” Beckwith said. “It’s time we return to real American history—history grounded in truth, fairness, and the values that made this nation great.”
President Trump Leads the Fight Against DEI
Since taking office, President Donald Trump has prioritized eliminating dangerous DEI policies across the federal government and America’s universities. His leadership has inspired major companies like Walmart and Target to rethink and roll back their own DEI initiatives, recognizing the divisiveness these programs create.
Indiana’s SB 289 is part of a growing national movement, led by patriotic conservatives, to reject woke ideology and restore merit-based policies across education and business.
Democrats Double Down on Division
Predictably, Indiana Democrats like State Representative Earl Harris Jr. attacked the bill, claiming it would “send a chilling message.” In reality, conservatives know the only message being sent is one of fairness, equality, and pride in America’s founding.
Beckwith didn’t hold back. Addressing Democrats directly on social media, he said: “This is the ACTUAL history behind the Three-Fifths Compromise. You don’t know this because you were taught at DEI-driven institutions. I love you, and you are welcome.”
Moving Forward: Will Indiana Lead the Way?
The bill now heads to Governor Mike Braun’s desk, where he will decide whether to officially make Indiana a leader in restoring true American values in education and government.
