Political rhetoric surrounding President Donald Trump and his family has become increasingly heated as Democrats prepare for another major confrontation with the White House.
House Democrats have been discussing investigations into businesses, financial institutions and other entities connected to President Trump and his family if the party wins control of the House in the 2026 midterm elections. According to Reuters, those discussions have included potential hearings, subpoenas and requests for records involving companies connected to Trump’s political and business interests.
Democratic lawmakers have also sharply criticized an immunity arrangement involving Trump, members of his family and their businesses. House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin has repeatedly attacked the arrangement, which he has described as a “Super Pardon.”
The controversy comes as Democrats increasingly focus their political message on allegations of corruption and conflicts of interest surrounding the president’s business empire. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 63% of Americans surveyed believed Trump had allowed his private business interests to influence his presidential decisions. The White House has rejected allegations of wrongdoing and has maintained that Trump’s assets are independently managed.
For Republicans, the increasingly aggressive language raises another question: Have political attacks against Trump expanded too far by bringing his family into the fight?
