President Donald Trump is once again making ideological differences a central part of the national political debate, warning American voters about politicians and candidates he describes as socialists.
The debate over socialism has become increasingly prominent as Americans consider competing ideas about taxes, government spending, health care, regulation and the proper role of the federal government in everyday life.
Trump and many Republicans argue that voters should reject socialist policies and instead support lower taxes, private enterprise and a more limited federal government.
