President Donald Trump has never been known for approaching politics like a conventional Washington politician.

Now, Trump’s argument that his decisions aren’t simply “political” but instead based on what he considers rational thinking raises an interesting question about how Americans view his presidency.
Politics inevitably surrounds nearly every major decision made inside the White House. Presidents must work with Congress, negotiate with foreign governments, respond to voters, manage competing interests and consider how their decisions could affect the country.
