The delegation, which included outspoken climate activist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, flew to the event in a US military plane.
Critics have pointed out the hypocrisy of politicians and celebrities who often decry climate change and carbon emissions continuing to travel in private jets, which use more fuel and emit more carbon per head than commercial flights.
