Attorney General Pam Bondi has issued a stern warning to Democratic governors, stressing that President Trump’s administration is committed to identifying and deporting illegal aliens in states like Illinois and New York. During an appearance on “America Reports,” Bondi made it clear that these governors better adhere to federal law, or they could face consequences.
Bondi, who recently took office on February 5, emphasized that one of her primary goals is to restore the Department of Justice to its core mission of fighting violent crime. However, she also noted that addressing government waste and cracking down on drug cartels are top priorities as well.
When questioned about the pushback from New York Governor Kathy Hochul over a Trump administration lawsuit regarding the state’s failure to comply with federal immigration laws, Bondi responded defiantly. Hochul had previously dismissed the lawsuit, calling it a “worthless, publicity-driven” effort. Bondi’s response was clear and direct: “Bring it on.”
Bondi strongly condemned the practice of protecting illegal aliens at the expense of American citizens. “They are protecting illegal aliens over American citizens – not going to happen,” she declared, reaffirming her commitment to enforcing federal immigration laws.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has also been vocal in defending his state’s stance on immigration, criticizing the Trump administration’s policies. But Bondi countered, explaining that the law is on the side of the Trump administration. “We are sick and tired of Americans being murdered, and these states protecting illegal aliens,” she said. Bondi pointed to tragic stories, like the death of Laken Riley, a young woman killed by an illegal alien, as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by sanctuary policies.
Bondi also addressed criticism following her appearance at CPAC 2025. She dismissed the claims that her presence was a partisan move, explaining that her focus is on addressing violent crime and the fentanyl epidemic—issues that should unite, not divide, Americans.
