Facebook Bans Account of Conservative Children’s Book Publisher due to ‘Disruptive Content

We have seen the woke indoctrination of children in American schools. Critical Race Theory, which has created a lot of controversy in recent times, is one such example of leftist indoctrination. It puts undue importance on race and asks children to behave according to their skin color. Needless to say, children are exposed to a plethora of books as part of the school curriculum, sometimes even without the knowledge of the parents. Some of these books could be dangerous brainwashing tools dressed as educational materials.

Parents have had enough of these woke school boards – they are pushing back. One conservative children’s book publisher, Heroes of Liberty, is doing its part to fight against woke indoctrination by publishing books that promote patriotism and American values – values that were once held by people from both sides of the aisle. Heroes of Liberty sells books about conservative icons such as Ronald Reagan, Thomas Sowell, and Amy Coney Barrett.

Heroes of Liberty was officially launched on the 14th of November. In the months leading up to the launch, they invested heavily on Facebook to market their books – something that they would later regret. On 23 December, out of nowhere Facebook overlords banned their account, claiming that their ads violated their policy on “Low Quality or Disruptive Content.” In other words, Facebook flushed down the entire marketing investment of the publisher down the toilet.

Heroes of Liberty appealed the ruling of course, only for Facebook to confirm the ban by saying that they are now permanently banned. “You can no longer advertise with this ad account and its ads and assets will remain disabled. This is our final decision,” said Facebook.

Bethany Mandel, the editor at Heroes of Liberty, says that some Facebook users mass reported her page, leading to the eventual takedown. Some of these users revealed their displeasure over the publisher by commenting on their page. One of the comments read, “You do know that your hero Regan illegally supported the reigns of dictators in Central America?” Another user remarked, “I am conflicted. My respect for the 1st Amendment says they should be allowed to publish this twaddle — but my sense of decency is telling me to buy these books just to burn them. Maybe burn the Barrett book twice due to cellular level evil.”

Indeed, the banning of Heroes of Liberty is equivalent to book burning in the digital age. Books are an important part of preserving and promulgating the culture of any society. It can be a formidable weapon in the culture wars we are seeing today.

This incident led to backlash among conservatives, many of them speaking out against Facebook. Notable among them is Sen. Ted Cruz, who tweeted, “When conservatives start independent publishing outlets and platforms, #BigTech companies like Facebook now work to destroy them. This latest example is particularly galling.”

There is more to this story. Eventually, Facebook backtracked on their ban, saying that it was done by mistake. “I wanted to let you know that the ads account was disabled in error and has been restored,” said a Facebook spokesperson.

It remains a mystery how the banning could be a mistake when they rejected the appeal from Heroes of Liberty and confirmed the ban saying it’s their “final decision.” Facebook also needs to explain one day how ‘mistakes’ like these are often at the expense of conservatives.
