Why Joe Rogan is More Popular than the Mainstream Media

Joe Rogan, the host of The Joe Rogan Experience, is the most popular podcaster on Spotify. Rogan draws in a huge amount of audience, dwarfing the viewership of every mainstream media news show. There are many reasons for this – one is that mainstream media is pushing away many viewers, who find a home in Joe Rogan’s podcasts.

Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett, hosts of Pod Save America, say that people are flocking to Rogan away from mainstream media because of severe distrust in their news. The guest on the show, NPR journalist Sam Sanders, cited a Pew Research poll that showed the declining trust in mainstream media. The poll shows that the Republican trust in news organizations is declining more than Democrat’s.

Sanders also said that mainstream news has become more negative and depressing, inducing anxiety in its viewers. “Because the spirit behind every headline and every story was like ‘aren’t you panicked, aren’t you worried, you’re going to die, this is bad,” he said. He and the hosts suggested that Joe Rogan isn’t similarly “scaring his audience,” and that way he is attracting more viewers.

So how popular is Joe Rogan? Immensely! One episode of The Joe Rogan Experience draws an average of 11 million viewers – 11 million! Moreover, the top 10 episodes of the show have garnered a combined 245 million views on Youtube. No wonder Spotify paid $100 million to have Joe Rogan on their platform.

Mainstream media shows can’t hold a candle to Joe Rogan when it comes to the number of viewers. CNN and MSNBC primetime have a measly average viewership of 0.82 and 1.27 million respectively. Even Fox News, which is considered the most popular cable news network, can’t come close to Joe Rogan. Tucker Carlson Tonight trails in second place with a viewership of 3.24 million, while Fox News Primetime has an average viewership of 2.37 million.

Many prominent figures have commented on Joe Rogan’s popularity. Financial commentator Anthony Pompliano tweeted, “Joe Rogan has completely disrupted the legacy media.” Also, Dr. Jordan Peterson, who recently appeared in an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, commented on Rogan’s ratings saying, “That’s because he doesn’t lie. Or talk down to his audience. Or manipulate for his own narrow advantage.”

Joe Rogan came under fire from the woke mob recently for so-called ‘Covid-19 misinformation’ when he hosted a controversial epidemiologist. The situation then devolved into accusations of racism when a video surfaced online of Rogan using the N-word. Rogan apologized for using the racial slur, saying that he was only quoting someone else. So far, Spotify has refused to bow down to the woke mob and cancel Rogan. Despite this whole saga, Joe Rogan is popular as ever.
