Will you use Microsoft’s new feature to detect and fix word usage that’s not politically correct?

Microsoft has introduced an option to check language for inclusive language.

YES

It’s a wonderful idea to raise sensitivity to non-inclusive words like “mankind” and “manhole”

NO

It’s ridiculous to censor language in this way.

This new feature is part of the software’s spellchecker and will be available on Office 365 applications and some desktop Office applications. The feature will flag any words that could be deemed offensive or not gender-inclusive.

Whenever you type in a problematic word, the spellchecker would swoop in and underline it in purple, in addition to offering “non-offensive” alternatives. Under this feature, words such as “mankind”, “postman”, “blacklist”, “whitelist”, etc, will be banned.

The good news is that this feature can be turned off and is not enabled by default.
