Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies rushed to former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Malibu property Friday night after security personnel discovered an uninvited woman on the grounds.
The incident unfolded at approximately 10:30 p.m., when security personnel spotted the woman entering the property without authorization. She was stopped outside the main residence before deputies arrived.
Harris and her husband, former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, were not home at the time.
Security Stops Woman Before She Reaches Home
According to FOX 11 Los Angeles, security personnel intervened after noticing the woman on the property and contacted local law enforcement for assistance.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were then dispatched to the Malibu residence in response to a trespassing call.
Despite the late-night encounter, authorities said no arrest was made.
The situation ended without any reported injuries, and the woman never reached the main residence.
Harris And Emhoff Were Away
A spokesman for Harris said security personnel stopped the individual before she could reach the home.
Neither Harris nor Emhoff was at the residence when the incident occurred, removing the possibility of a direct confrontation with the former vice president or her husband.
The episode nevertheless puts renewed attention on security surrounding Harris following her departure from the White House.
Harris Lost Secret Service Protection
The security issue carries additional significance because Harris no longer receives Secret Service protection.
Former President Joe Biden had extended Harris’ protection beyond the traditional period afforded to former vice presidents. President Donald Trump later ended that extension in 2025.
Following that decision, California and Los Angeles authorities temporarily became involved in providing protection for Harris while alternative security arrangements were being established.
The use of local law enforcement resources for Harris previously generated controversy, particularly over whether officers should be assigned to protect a former federal official rather than their normal crime-fighting responsibilities.
Deputies Respond To Malibu Property
Friday night’s incident demonstrates the security challenges that can remain even after a high-ranking government official leaves office.
Security personnel were able to intervene before the woman reached the residence, while sheriff’s deputies responded after being contacted about the suspected trespassing.
Authorities did not report any injuries stemming from the encounter, and no arrest was made.
For Harris and Emhoff, the most important detail was that neither was present when the incident unfolded.
