Washington, D.C. — President Donald J. Trump has signed a powerful new executive order aimed at restoring historical accuracy in our nation’s capital — and putting a stop to taxpayer funding of programs that promote what he calls “divisive, ideological narratives.”
Trump Cracks Down on Anti-American Bias in Museums
Speaking from the White House on Thursday, President Trump declared that the Smithsonian Institution — the world’s largest museum and education complex — must return to its roots: celebrating America’s triumphs, not distorting them.
“We’ve seen a growing effort to rewrite our history — to replace facts with a false, anti-American ideology,” Trump said. “That ends now.”
The executive order, titled “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History,” is a bold step in reversing years of what many call politically motivated revisionism.
Vice President JD Vance to Lead the Initiative
Trump has tapped Vice President JD Vance to lead a comprehensive review of the Smithsonian’s operations. The order targets museums, research centers, education programs, and even the National Zoo — all of which may be required to eliminate programs deemed “ideologically improper.”
Specific Museums Under Scrutiny
The order directly names the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the proposed Women’s History Museum as examples of institutions promoting divisive historical narratives.
Trump insists that all federally funded cultural institutions must be held to the highest standard of truth, accuracy, and patriotic values.
Restoring National Monuments and American Pride
In addition to reforming the Smithsonian, the order directs Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to oversee the restoration of U.S. monuments, memorials, and statues that were removed or altered over the last five years — many during the peak of civil unrest.
“Americans want to honor our heroes, not erase them,” Trump said.
National Garden of American Heroes to Be Revived
President Trump is also reviving his previously announced plan for a National Garden of American Heroes — a sprawling tribute to the men and women who built this country. The project, first unveiled on Independence Day 2020, will serve as a permanent reminder of the greatness of American history.
Preparing for America’s 250th Anniversary
Looking ahead to the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026, the executive order mandates urgent upgrades and restorations to Independence Hall and other historical landmarks, ensuring they are preserved for future generations.
Smithsonian Offers No Comment
When contacted by the Associated Press, Smithsonian spokesperson Linda St. Thomas offered a brief response: “We have no comment at this time.”
A Bold Stand for American Values
This move by President Trump is being hailed by many as a much-needed course correction — one that finally pushes back against radical ideology in taxpayer-funded institutions. As debates over our history and culture heat up, Trump is making it clear: America’s legacy is worth defending.
